Revlon Photo Ready Insta-Fix Foundation

So I came across this foundation, while in Tesco browsing for some eyeliner, so I picked it up and thought I would try it out.

So here are what it claims:

 Product Description:
Revlon creates the instant skin retouch-er. Light-Filtering Technology gives skin an instantly perfected, retouched look. Use all over the face, to conceal flaws, or for touch ups Anytime, Anywhere.

Special Features:
• Get instantly perfected, retouched look.
• Use all over face.
• Conceal flaws.
• Touch ups on the go.
• Formula with light filtering technology.
• SPF 20.
• Light/Medium coverage.
• Convenient Stick for portability.

How to use product:
Use all over your face, to conceal flaws and for touch ups on the go.

The Packaging:

Starting off with the packaging, the foundation comes in a swivel stick format. The shade name and number is mentioned at the bottom of the foundation stick. The cap is transparent with the name of the product on. There was plastic protective shield when new like most drugstore products. Over all I feel stick foundations are easy to use and carry, perfect for topping up on the go. But they are not hygienic if you apply directly, so wiping off the tip with a wet tissue would be a good thing to keep the product clean in the long run. Other than that, packaging wise, for a drugstore product, the packaging gets a big thumbs up from me.

The Foundation:

The texture of the foundation is a light consistency, considering it is in stick format. I was expecting it to be thick and heavy; on the contrary it feels lightweight on the skin and if blended well, I tend to forget I have something on my face. I lightly moisturize my skin with a cream before applying the foundation which makes the application smoother and easier.

The blending is seamless and there is little effort in the process. Concealer application is optional as the coverage is medium to buildable. However I found if you like a fuller coverage then this may not be for you.  Going over the blemishes twice would give a natural finish to the look; though for stubborn marks and absolutely flawless skin, concealer would be required. I really like the fact that there is no funny smell to it which is pretty common.

The staying power is awesome; it stayed on my face till I removed it in 6-7 hours without oxidizing a bit; with minimal touch up. One more aspect worth mentioning would be, it works pretty well with finger tips, and so if you are yet to invest on a foundation brush, you can delay it a bit further. For dry skin beauties like me, a little bit of extra moisturisation is required, so that it doesn’t look flat and dry on the skin, making the skin go cakey.

So over all I enjoyed using this product, however because I have dry skin, I wouldn’t necessarily use this in the winter months as that tends to be when my skin is most dry because of the lack of Vitamin D.

This foundation for me will be perfect for the Spring/Summer months when you don’t need as heavy coverage. So I will defo be taking this on my summer holidays.

Pros:

• Handy packaging.
• Easy to use.
• Nice texture.
• Non drying.
• No break out.
• SPF is added benefit.
• Medium to buildable coverage.
• No funny smell.

Cons:

• Not for flash photography.
• Expensive for a drugstore product.
• Color selection is limited.
